Maths Tuition

Many children find that maths is an area where they struggle, and this is where expert tutoring can help to bring out the very best in them.

Perhaps your child is already doing well in maths, yet you don't feel they are being supported fully in the classroom? Or maybe your child is falling below expected standards in this challenging academic area, and you simply want to set them on the right path for the future while also bolstering their confidence and boosting their self belief?

Our maths tuition is designed to help each student gain more from their schooling, and instils them with the confidence to dream big and overcome the obstacles which are holding them back.

Year 5 & 6 Maths

These lessons are appropriate for students who need to improve their confidence and abilities in mathematical concepts. The skills gained can provide a smooth transition to secondary school.

The tuition provides a thorough grounding in the key foundational concepts studied at school. We analyse methods and ensure no bad habits have formed which can impact more advanced learning.

Year 7, 8 & 9 Maths (KS3)

We run small group sessions (year-specific) for our Year 7 to Year 9 students. The key focus is to build a strong foundation in number, shape, measures, data handling and algebra. This will ensure a smooth transition into Year 10, in readiness for the GCSE exams.

Exam tips, such as how to layout a question, how to pick up marks and how to solve complex problems are integral parts of the learning.

Our small-group sessions (year-specific) are geared to ensuring strength in the key areas students tend to struggle with, including, but not limited to:

  • quadratic equations
  • simultaneous equations
  • algebraic fractions
  • statistics and data handling
  • sine and cosine rule
  • graphs, including quadratic and trigonometric functions

We also go through exam technique and tips on how to increase marks on exam day.

"I just wanted to express my gratitude to you for all the excellent work you have done in tutoring Jessica to get her B grade at GCSE. When we first came to see you Jessica was getting Ds and Es in her mock exams and was feeling very nervous about the GCSE exams. But with your tutoring, careful explaining and patience, it meant she got to fully understand the maths and feel more confident with it. Again, thank you for all your help, we are all thrilled with Jessica's result! "

Maths is an extensive subject, and we understand each child has differing needs. We therefore tailor our study schedule to suit them. If you are committed to helping your child truly excel, then this is a great way to support them – and the results will soon show during the academic year!

Our maths tuition is taught by experts in the field, and covers areas such as speedy mental calculations, essential for performing well in exam-situations as well as the classroom. Your child will also have the chance to explore areas like multiplication tables and associated concepts, alongside measurements, geometry and enhanced arithmetic.

Our ethos is that self-belief is one of the most important things any child can be taught, and so our classes and tuition sessions focus on instilling this essential skill. We also focus on helping students discover how to revise and take breaks from learning, helping to enhance the benefits of each lesson. Our approach to teaching is fun, structured, calm and positive – all books are included and tuition is personalised to each learner.
